Tips For Parents: Kids Ghost Stories

Kids ghost stories are always popular for the little ones during the festive season they call Halloween. These sorts of tales should be always be age appropriate but engaging enough so the children do not get bored with the story. I have some guidelines that parents might want follow when telling those kids ghost stories.

The first task you must complete is to make your selection of which ghost story to choose from for the children. It is always fun to have interesting characters in your story but for a child it is probably best to make sure there is a moral to the story so they take something away positive from your tale.

Next is how someone will convey the story to the children. You have to keep in mind that younger children will get bored quite easily if you do not keep them interested. Maybe you will want to speak in a spooky voice or make fast gestures to keep them engaged. It is also great to use puppets.  You might even want to get the children involved in the story.

When telling kids ghost stories, you will want to produce the right ambiance. It is best to do it during the night for the that special effect.  Maybe you want to tell the story in the dark with a few candles lit or possibly have soft  but yet scary music in the background. You can of course do this outside but the children may want to go in.

Finally when finishing with kids ghost stories, it is important to talk about the story afterward. Let the children express how they are feeling and if they have any questions afterwards. Most of all, keep the story spooky but mostly fun and light for the children so it is something positive they will remember for years to come.
