The Octagon Haunted House In Wisconsin

The Octagon House in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin is said to be haunted and has a colorful history to say the least which could make paranormal activity completely understandable here. It is currently a national landmark and was given that title in the year 1972. The Octagon Haunted House was constructed in the year 1856 and was designed by an architect who went by the name of Orson Fowler.
It was actually built though by a man named Issac Brown.

The house contained 9 passageways, 12 rooms and a secret tunnel that went underground which was constructed by hand! This tunnel was used to transport slaves while the North and South fought against each other in the Civil War. The underground tunnel in this haunted house was not discovered until the year 1975, when a family purchased the house. They saved the Octagon house from being destroyed. It is currently a museum and is open to the public year round. They also hold events on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween, and of course on Friday the 13th. If you are feeling rather Victorian when you are visiting here, they have costumes available for patrons. This haunted house has gained national exposure as it has been featured on the History Channel as well as the television show known as Ripley’s Believe It Or Not.

So what makes this a haunted house? Several paranormal occurrences have happened at the Octagon House over the years. It has been said that people have heard footsteps along with other strange sounds and have seen mysterious lights. At certain times, objects in this haunted house will seem to move on their own while others disappear and cannot be accounted for. People have also witnessed a ghostlike figure which appears to look like a boy of a young age. Shadows have also been seen as well, which in turn causes certain areas in the Octagon Haunted House to become cold. Still others have heard the laughter of children.
