Is the Moore Home a Haunted House?
Before I share with you this tale of a very real haunted house, let me ask the question, what exactly is one? A haunted house would be characterized as a house where phenomena of the paranormal nature occurs.
My first haunted house tale takes you to the small city of Villisca in the state of Iowa. It can be located in the county of Montgomery. It is June of 1912. A total of eight people are found dead in the Moore house. A father and mother along with their four children, ranging in ages from 6 to 11 are killed as well as two friends who happen to be visiting on this particular day. The killer unfortunately was never caught. The Moore house is still standing today. Since the killings, paranormal activity has taken place in the Moore home.
Would this be considered a haunted house? Well it has been said that people over the years have encountered many strange occurrences in this house. Let me give you several examples so you can come to your own conclusion. Items inside of drawers are mysteriously found on the floor even though no one has put them there. The sounds of footsteps are distinctly heard on stairs despite the fact that nobody is there. It is said that people have heard the giggles of what seem to be children having a good time. Apparitions of sorts have made themselves known which have included young girls wearing dresses that are white as well as what indeed could be the killer himself. There is still other supernatural phenomena that has occurred in what was once the Moore home such as a door to a closet opening as well as closing and knives that have decided to suddenly become airborne for no apparent reason! Do you believe this to be a haunted house? It could very well be one.
