Is Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Appropriate For Young Children?

Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is a favorite for many visitors and has been for years. The Haunted Mansion opened its doors in the year 1969 and thousands visit on a weekly basis. This attraction is a draw for many people but some parents will want to know if it is appropriate for their own child. I will list some information and then you as a parent can make an informed decision if Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is appropriate for your son or daughter.

First off you have to take note that this attraction is dark and for children this could be unnerving. When visitors depart on Doombuggies, it is often difficult to see anything around though there are certain areas that show a bit of light. This small bit of light might not be enough for your child. Parents have to be aware that this Haunted Mansion ride goes on for an extended amount of time so keep this in mind when making a decision. The total time of the ride is about ten minutes long.

Secondly parents must take into account that the Haunted Mansion is scary looking. It looks the way it was intended to be. A haunted mansion must have a chilling look to it. Children might be uncomfortable with this look. At the start the lights will be turned off and a scream is heard. There is also a body hanging from above. The Haunted Mansion also contains a cemetery, scary music, cobwebs, along with creepy pictures. All of these things could make it extremely distressing for a child.

As a parent, it would be best to leave your child with a trusted adult and go in the Haunted Mansion first to analyze the situation. Only you as a parent can gauge what your child can and can not handle. If you feel that the ride would be too spooky or in some way create distress, then it is best to find something else to take your child to which shouldn’t be too hard to find.
