Inexpensive Halloween Decorations Part One

In keeping in with the tone of this blog, I thought in celebration of Halloween, I’d write a some posts about this festive time of the year. Do you want Halloween decorations but would prefer to stay within your budget? Not only will you save money but you and your children will enjoy doing these sorts of crafts at home.

Let’s begin with a dummy that is life size for the first of our Halloween decorations. It is quite simple and the kids will love creating this. It is incredibly effective for those trick-or-treaters especially when it is dark out or it’s great for indoor parties. You will need a man’s shirt, pants, boots, gloves and a hat. For the stuffing, you can use pillows, sheets or old newspapers. Next, stuff everything including the boots and gloves to create your dummy. Then of course I can’t forget the most important part of the body, the head. I have two ideas for the head. You can either decorate a small sized pumpkin (make sure it is carved so the pumpkin will be lighter) or you can use one of those old Halloween masks from years before and fill it with newspaper. Last, you can use red dye on the face or body to give it that spooky effect! If you do this, it might be best to use white clothing.

Halloween decorations wouldn’t be complete without a ghost or two! This will require a few materials such as a white trash bag, newspaper, a black marker or paint, white string and black string. Fill the bottom of the bag with several pieces of newspaper. The number of pieces will depend on how large you want the head. Next, tie the white piece of string, right below the head. Use the marker or paint to create a face. Cut two holes (make sure they are close together) at the very top of the head and put the black string through them. Finally use the black string to hang your ghost on a tree outside your house. Be sure to check out part two of my Halloween decorations!
