A Haunted House Attraction

So what exactly is a haunted house anyway? The definition of a haunted house is that of a home where certain paranormal activity or happenings of the supernatural occur. A home is haunted when spirits who have not passed on yet decide they must stay there. It could have to do with unfinished business or maybe they are attached to a person.

Several different events can occur in a haunted house. People might hear odd sounds when they cannot be accounted for or even see actual apparitions appear right before their own eyes. Still others will see items move on their own with no explanation whatsoever. This is what makes a house haunted.

This false appearance is what people are looking to create with what is known as a haunted house. Everything from lighting to sound to actors to special film techniques must be taken into consideration when constructing a haunted house. Believe it or not but in the United States, there are more than 3,000 of these venues that are open for business each year. A large profit can easily be made thanks to Halloween.

These types of places should be able to scare, bewilder as well as horrify their visitors. They will want to play upon their guests’ fears. Sure anyone can give the visitor the occasionally boo but what a haunted house operator is looking for is to get into the psyche of their patron and rattle them a bit while they are going through this experience. Remember they came to be scared and you have to fill your end of the bargain. You want them to anticipate with horror about what will come next. It is the not knowing that will keep them at the edge of their seat. Over 50% of people actually have a fear of darkness and any haunted house operator can definitely use this to their advantage. You want this fear to linger on after they have left. If you are able to do all of the above, then you have a successful haunted house on your hands.
